CAMPAIGNERS have refused to give up the fight to save a Petersfield care home despite councillors agreeing to its closure.

The leader of Hampshire County Council was heckled on Monday after cabinet members dealt the fatal blow to Bulmer House.

The decision came a few days before the Government announced plans to double funding into dementia research to £132m a year.

Approval was the unsurprising conclusion to a lengthy consultation that has been dogged by controversy, anger and opposition.

In the end it took less than a minute for a handful of councillors to approve its closure following a two-and-a-half hour debate in Winchester.
