FORMER actress Mary Faramus, who helped lead the fight against animal cruelty in the Farnham area, alongside husband Tony, has passed away aged 88.

Having lived with Parkinson’s disease for more than 20 years, Mary passed in February at Hatch Mill Nursing Home in Farnham.

In an article dated 1990, detailing Tony’s death age 70, it highlighted the powerful work carried out by the popular and well-known pair, who lived in a small cottage in Upper South View, Farnham.

The duo became familiar figures in the countryside in their efforts to break off the activities of local hunts.

One of their campaigns dated 1990, was against what Tony believed, was the wrongful arrest of two men in The Borough while collecting for an animal rights charity.

Like Mary, Tony worked in the acting industry for several of years, as a stand-in for a number of Hollywood stars.

Mary’s funeral has already taken place and family members would like to say thank you to everyone who offered sympathy, support and shared their memories with them.
