Officers from Surrey Police and British Transport Police (BTP) attended the incident, which was reported at 4.40pm on October 31.
A BTP spokesman said. “Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but a 39-year-old woman from Godalming was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Her family have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A South West Trains spokesman said: “Services between Guildford and Haslemere were disrupted.
“Our first thoughts are with the family and friends of the person involved.
“The line was reopened around 7pm. We are sorry for the inconvenience some passengers will have faced.”
