MOTORISTS heading through Whitehill and Bordon may be in for some long waits as the construction of the town’s relief road moves into the home stretch.

Firgrove Road will be closed at its A325 junction for about four weeks. The work began last Monday.

“The end certainly is in sight now, and I’m pleased to say that we expect to finish works in the spring, well ahead of schedule,” said Rob Humby, executive member for environment and transport at Hampshire County Council.

“I want to thank residents and businesses for their patience and co-operation during the construction of the relief road. To finish building junction one we’ve closed Firgrove Road at its junction with the A325 and we will look to reopen this in early December.

"We have asked the contractor to ensure residents have access at all times, and there is a signed diversion route in place. After this, we’ll be starting on the last significant part of construction, the final resurfacing works, and will need to close the A325 at the Liphook Road/Firgrove Road junction overnight to do this.”
