PATIENTS got pay back as Peter Johnston from Castleton Dental Practice in Farnham got a soaking, after the team took part in the ‘wear it pink’ campaign raising more than £500 for breast cancer.

Peter Johnston, one of the partners agreed to have one bucket of water thrown over him for every £25 he raised, having to endure a total of 19 freezing buckets of water. Alongside his soaking, the team also hosted a cake sale in the reception of the dental practice - to help raise that little bit extra.

Peter said: “I was a little nervous before I did it but I feel like we have done something worthwhile. It is just nice to give something back to the community. For a day of starting very early, I was wide awake and alert by the end of it. It has been great that everyone has come together and given something back.”

Practive manager Jo Hounsham said: “Everyone has been really good. They said they would like to give but wouldn’t take any cake. Cancer is close to everybody’s heart, we have lost a hygienist - she had breast cancer to start off with and then she recovered from that and later passed away from leukaemia.

“My father-in-law has just been given the all clear for cancer as well – everyone knows somebody with cancer. We try and help a new charity each year and last year we chose Jeans for Genes.”

The ‘wear it pink’ campaign raises around £2 million a year, and since its launch in 2002, its total hits more than £27 million.
