BRAMSHOTT Place Village developers Helical have launched an appeal over its plans for a large care home on the retirement village site close to the A3.

The planning inquiry is set to be heard over six days this month following East Hampshire District Council's refusal for permission to build a 64-bedroom care home plus 40 new cottages, and an extension to the existing clubhouse.

The development – if planning permission is granted by the government-appointed inspector – will also require the construction of a a temporary access road.

The application was turned down by EHDC's planning committee in December 2013.
