A GOVERNMENT inspector has told purchasers of the Farnham police station site that they cannot demolish the building and build a complex of apartments for the elderly without making some provision for affordable housing.
Churchill Retirement Living, which bought the redundant 1960s building earlier this year, has lost its appeal against Waverley Council's refusal of planning consent for the 50 sheltered homes.
The company has fallen foul of a local plan policy designed to prevent sites being divided in such a way as to avoid the requirement to provide social housing.
