WAVERLEY borough councillor Diane James, ward member for Ewhurst, was elected one of four UKIP MEPs for the South East in a landslide victory for her party nationally. "I'm delighted at UKIP's success and the election outcome and I'm looking forward to representing South East voters in Europe," she said. "I wish my dad was alive to see his daughter's achievement." The success of UKIP in the European election is the first time since 1906 that a party other than the Conservatives or Labour has come first in the share of a vote. UKIP doubled the number of its MEPs to four, with its leader, Nigel Farage, Janice Atkinson, Diane James and Ray Finch winning with a 13 per cent surge in support.
