PUPILS from years four and five at Edgeborough School’s recent production of ‘Dick Whittington and His Cat’ was a great success, as parents, staff and pupils roared them on.

As usual, head of drama Caroline Elworthy produced an outstanding musical play, full of acting, singing and dancing. The audience were moved by Bertie Chilcott playing a very convincing Dick, whom of which was accompanied by his singing and dancing Puss, portrayed by Miriam Hutchinson.

Comedy was provided by the two bullying cooks, Amara Opie and Fleur Marren. Freddie Stocks played the snooty Butler and Emilie Wilson was the scullery maid, while Millan Semple and Isabella Davies took on the roles of Mr Fitzwarren and Alice, his daughter.

Eight narrators, Max Koca, Max Ivey, Katie Baird, Tallulah Smith, Malou Wright, Natasha Bailey, William Chipperfield and Fraser Dobie, carried the play to ensure the audience knew what was happening.

Kate Davies, the school’s head of music and Kimberley Vowles, the choreographer, were delighted with the cast’s performances, and Marian Holland, head of DT, provided an eye-catching Tudor style backdrop of London.
