OVERstocking of the Heath pond by Petersfield and District Angling Club has been suggested as a possible cause of outbreaks of blue-green algae that killed thousands of fish in 2008 and 2009.

Town council staff were discussing the problem at a grounds meeting last week as they praised the work of the Heath Pond Association, who took on the management of the pond last July.
