PARENTS looking for innovative ways to entertain the children in the half term are invited along to Farnham’s Explore Learning Centre in Water Lane, where there will be free, fun and interactive workshops for children aged four to 14 on Thursday, October 27.
In honour of the return of The National Young Mathematicians’ Awards, an annual competition for primary schools across the UK, the free workshops will be stretching young mathematical minds.
Explore Learning and the NRICH Project at the University of Cambridge have teamed up once again to provide the opportunity for primary pupils to explore and investigate never before seen mathematical problems.
Everyone from numeracy novices to equation enthusiasts will enjoy the workshop content that will task them with telling the time, shapes and word problems.
Children can explore the world of shapes, in the ‘shapes’ session taking place from 12pm to 1pm, for those aged four to six.
From 1.30pm to 2.30pm, children aged seven to eight can enjoy the ‘telling the time’ workshop, and those aged nine to 11 can take part in a ‘word problems’ workshop from 3pm to 4pm.
From 12pm to 5pm families can spend an hour with one of the centre’s tutors at any point during the day. A chance to see how they can help children fall in love with learning.
Charlotte Gater, head of curriculum at Explore Learning said: “It can be so tough to find ways to entertain the children over the half term break, especially activities that are fun, affordable and educational so we hope our workshops tick all those boxes.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming our current, and potential members, along to see the fun that maths can bring.”
