AN outdoor discovery app is encouraging people to explore the South Downs and other UK National Parks this summer.
ViewRanger is the free-to-download outdoor guide, mapping and navigation app offers walking routes by location, so all users have to do is type in the name of a place in one of the UK’s 15 national parks to find a host of walks to choose from. ViewRanger co-founder Craig Wareham said: “A walk, cycle or horse ride is a brilliant way to get to know a place and always makes for a memorable day out. ViewRanger makes it easier to find a route that’s right for you and your family. There really is something for everyone with routes rated from easy to hard, so whether you’re outdoors regularly or just looking to explore, you’ll easily discover a route that helps you make the most of these beauty spots.
Photographs, waypoint information, and other helpful content for each route are included. Route guides and maps are downloaded and stored on your mobile, so no network signal is required to use the app while out on the trail.
You can also record walks, rides, and other adventures which can later be shared with friends and family via social media or email.
