THERE has been a lack of good cheer among town councillors after it was announced Petersfield is again being promised East Hampshire District Council backing for a lavish Christmas festival, while neighbouring towns Bordon and Alton will have to raise their own money for their festive celebrations.
Their indignation has arisen over what is seen as "very poor support" from EHDC, which last year contributed £500 to Alton's Christmas event, compared to the £76,500 spent on Petersfield's 2008 Christmas Market, which made a loss of almost £33,000.
