HART District Council has a new chairman and vice-chairman.
Tim Southern was elected chairman and Gerry Crisp as vice-chairman at the annual council meeting on Thursday, May 19. Speaking at the meeting, Mr Southern: “I would like to thank everyone for their support.
“I have chosen two charities to support during my year as chairman. The first is Parity for Disability, which provides help and support for disabled people over the age of 18. The second is the Vine Centre, which provides support to reduce social isolation, and improve the quality of life for homeless and vulnerable people aged over 21.”
The council is appealing for ideas for an event to raise money for the selected charities. Suggestions can be passed on to the chairman’s secretary by phoning 01252 774143. The other roles in the council cabinet remained unchanged.
Elsewhere in the area, Hartley Wintney Parish Council held its annual election on Monday, May 16. Cathy Roberts was re-elected as chairman, and Ron Watt as vice-chairman.
The general parish council elections were held last year, so no vote was needed.
