SOAPBOX sponsors ME Holdings, a development and estate agent company in Farnham, have helped the event committee with marketing, designing signage, brochures and posters – all while creating their own two entries for the race.
The group, consisting of marketing team members Dan, Kelly, Ella, Rory and Finn, joined forces with ME construction workers Jake, Pete and Tom to design two soapbox cars worthy of a place in the race.
They decided to sponsor the Farnham soapbox event, said marketing director Dan, after noticing the event on social media.
“When the event went on Facebook, a few people within the company saw it and thought it would be a great idea to be involved.
“The organisers plan to raise quite a lot of money for Phyllis Tuckwell, so it’s all for a good cause.
“It seemed like an event that, as a company, we would want to sponsor.”
The team’s first car was inspired by the statement ME truck, which is driven by directors of the company.
The ME truck will be driven by construction worker Tom, who said he had a “lucky egg”, adding couldn’t wait for the event to get under way.
The second ME car is inspired by the company’s sister venture, YiaYia’s at The Fox Pub, a Greek Cypriot restaurant housed inside a pub.
Keeping in line with the Greek theme, the team have created a giant Greek chicken souvlaki wrap, which is still in the process of being finalised.
The giant wrap will be driven by ME graphic design intern Rory, who said he was “a bit nervous – but excited at the same time”.
He added: “I’ve been told been told it has brakes. I’m not sure if they work or not – we’ll have to find out.”
