GILBERT White’s House in Selborne will stage its first-ever dog show on Sunday (August 21).

The house’s garden has always been a great place to bring take canine companions, with plenty of space to walk, picnic and stretch those legs.

But on that Sunday its grounds are expected to become a dog’s paradise.

Entry to the showground will be free, but there will be a £1 fee to enter dogs into 10 categories, ranging from waggiest tail to a golden oldie. There will even be a fancy dress category.

There will also be obstacle courses, a water retrieve, a gun dog scurry and a dog maze, and stalls full of treats for dogs and their owners, face-painting, family trails around the garden, refreshments and a barbecue.

There will be the opportunity also to visit the museum which will be openas usual, as will its award-

winning tea parlour.

The event runs from 10.30am with judging from 12.30pm, finishing at 4pm. The Museum closes at 5pm.
