Annington, the company responsible for refurbishing former MoD homes in Bordon’s newly-redeveloped town centre, has donated funds to the warm space at Bordon library.

The donation will help the library provide a warm space to local residents who are struggling to heat their homes by offering a free, warm and welcoming place to go.

According to research from End Fuel Poverty, an estimated 8.6 million households in the UK will be in fuel poverty from April 2023, and with energy bills at an all-time high, warm spaces such as Bordon library are proving to be a vital service for many.

Bordon library, located in Pinehill Road, provides a non-judgemental space for the local community to use and is run by staff and volunteers. The funds donated by Annington will be used to support additional activities the library is providing as part of its warm and welcome offer.

Annington marketing manager Stacy Whitehead said: “While the rising energy costs are a year-round issue, in the winter months many households are falling behind on their energy repayments or making the heartbreaking choice between heating and eating.

“Nobody should have to make that decision, which is why we are supporting warm spaces across the country, including at Bordon library, and we hope our contribution goes some way to helping the most vulnerable in the local community.”
