DOROTHY Perkins’ branch in The Borough is set to close for good this Saturday, August 4 - bringing to an end a 50-year stint in the town.

The popular ladies fashion chain has operated a store at 31 The Borough since the late 1960s, but is set to make way for an as-yet-undisclosed retailer.

Staff told the Herald they had not been informed why the store was closing and letting agent Park Steele would only reveal a “nice tenant” is set to take its place.

Lloyds Bank also put customers minds at ease after its premises in Castle Street was listed for sale this week for “offers in the region of £2,350,000” by agents Hurst Warne - confirming its lease of the building is unaffected.
