THERE were double celebrations at the weekend as Farnham Rugby Club not only put on another impressive year of fireworks but honoured its president’s 70th birthday as well.

The event saw its highest attendance to date, with 3,500 spectators. General manager Rebecca Watson said: “We had a fantastic night on Saturday with absolutely amazing fireworks and music.

“People love the outside bars and barbecue and you could see people tapping their feet away to the music.

“Every year the comments come back that the event just gets better and better and we couldn’t have been luckier with the weather.”

It was a special weekend for the club as Geoff Bond, the president of Farnham Rugby Club, celebrated his 70th birthday the evening before, hosting a party at the club for 200 people.

“This was a fantastic celebration for all of the good he has done whether it be for the rugby club or Frensham Cricket Club. We hold good events at the club and people should definitely contact us if they want to hold an event with us.

“We would like to thank Charters Estate Agents who sponsor our event and also to the volunteers who are members of Farnham Rugby Club.”
