A DRINK-driver from Petersfield was nearly four times over the legal limit when she wrote off her car, a court has heard.

Police watched in horror as Nicola Roper drove her Renault Clio down the wrong side of Hylton Road before crashing into a bollard.

Officers described how the 47 year old from Sandringham Road suffered a bloodied nose and smelled of alcohol following the crash on December 8.

Roper was handed a suspended prison sentence last Thursday after admitting to one count of driving with excess alcohol.

She was lucky to escape custody with magistrates condemning her actions as "disgraceful" before handing her a 30-month driving ban.
