HASLEMERE resident Lady Lisle, 92, appeared at Guildford Magistrates’ Court last week charged with causing the death of former town mayor James Mackie by careless/inconsiderate driving.
Mr Mackie, 90, – known as Mr Haslemere – was crossing the road at the junction of the High Street and Shepherds Hill just after 12.30pm, on October 31, 2016, when he was hit by a car and suffered serious head injuries.
Mr Mackie, was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, but died of his injuries the following day. Lady Lisle, charged under her name of Lesley Lewis, Holdfast Lane, was fined £700,wth a victim surcharge of £70 plus £85 in cost. She was disqualified from driving for 18 months.
