POLICE blamed drivers for driving "far too fast" when black ice struck the A3 between Thursley and Milford during Monday morning's rush hour.

The northbound carriageay was closed briefly while emergency services dealt with a number of incidents in the icy conditions, but luckily no one was seriously injured.

The road was closed for around 15 minutes at 7am, while Surrey Police dealt with a number of incidents at Milford and Hindhead.

Cars skidded and collided with the central reservation after hitting patches of the "invisible killer."
