TWO motorists suffered serious injuries in two separate single vehicle collisions on the A3 near Haslemere.
A man in his 40s driving a Kia Creed car, was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries, after crashing on the northbound carriageway just outside the Hindhead Tunnel, at around 11.45am, last Friday. No other vehicle was involved.
Both carriageways of the A3 were closed either side of the Hindhead Tunnel to enable access for the emergency services.
The driver had to be cut out of his car by fire crews from Haslemere and Petersfield who attended.
Road closures were lifted and the tunnel was re-opened at around 1.50pm.
Police and emergency services were called the car left the A3 southbound carriageway between Eashing and Milford, at around 9am, on Sunday.
The male driver of a Vauxhall Corsa was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital, in Guildford, with serious injuries.
Firefighters from Guildford removed the rear door of the vehicle in order to get the driver out.
The A3 was closed both ways to allow an air ambulance to land, the northbound carriageway reopened just before 11am and the southbound carriageway was reopened by noon.
