Construction of phase two is now well under way. Phase two is two miles long (the total length of the bypass is 2.6 miles) and will cost just over £20m to deliver.
The whole bypass scheme, which will support the regeneration of the town, is due to be completed in the summer 2018.
The drone footage gives a birds-eye view of the first phase of the works, travelling along the A325 from the direction of Farnham and turning, at the roundabout, into Louisburg Avenue, which provides the access to the Louisburg redevelopment site where 100 homes and a construction-skills training centre are being built.
Phase two of the road will pass between the main garrison redevelopment area, centred on Prince Philip Barracks, and the Hogmoor Inclosure SANG (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace for recreation). It will include a double roundabout junction where it re joins the A325 (Petersfield Road) in the south of the town.
In addition, two traffic light-controlled junctions, one to access the new garrison housing development and the second at the intersection with Oakhanger Road, will be provided.
Future works will be done to the A325 through the town to make it more pedestrian friendly and encourage vehicles, many of of which are through traffic, to use the relief road instead of cutting through the middle of the town.
