ALTON Town Council is appealing to dog owners to keep their pets under control after a duck was killed at Flood Meadows.
A ‘polite notice’ has been posted by the town council uring owners to stop their dogs burrowing into the undergrowth and chasing the ducks.
Spokesman Pat Harris said: “We are lucky in Alton to have so many open spaces which provide a safe haven for wildlife, but at this time of the year, with so many young having been born, extra vigilance is required.”
