THERE was an unusual hold-up for traffic in Farnham on Tuesday morning, as a family of ducks went for a stroll in the town centre.

A mother mallard and her nine ducklings were first spotted waddling along West Street at around 11am, and brought traffic - already heavy due to the grass cutting on the A31 - to a near-standstill.

Many kind-hearted pedestrians came to their aid, and one lucky duckling had to be rescued after falling into a storm drain.

Passer-by David Grimes and florist Carl Wilson of Castle Street Flowers eventually scooped up the feathered family and delivered them safely to Gostrey Meadow.
