AROUND 60 people enjoyed Whitehill and Bordon’s popular annual duck race on “a very low” River Deadwater on Saturday.
Deadwater Valley Trust senior ranger Jamie Cummins said, despite the “slow flow”, due to a lack of rainwater during the continuing heatwave, spectators saw “200 yellow plastic ducks ease themselves down the river on another hot summer Saturday”.
As well as the main event, children were able to venture along a duck-themed trail. The ducks were sent on their way by Deadwater Valley Trust chairman Nora Dobson and the Mayor of Whitehill Leslie Webber.
Winner Grant Dawkins received the top prize of £25, with second and third places going to Noel Robinson and June Watkinson, who took home wine and chocolate.
As always, the last duck across the line also won a prize and this year Deadwater Valley Trust ranger Brendan Finnegan’s little yellow loser bagged him a chocolate egg.
