RENEWED warnings have been issued of the real threat Dunsfold Aerodrome will become a major repair and maintenance centre for jet aircraft.

Guildford and Waverley Friends of the Earth has warned it is the inevitable consequence of Waverley's decision to exclude Dunsfold Park as a suitable site for housing in its draft core strategy document.

The draft strategy for future housing proposes building 1,295 new homes at Farnham, 836 at Cranleigh, 642 at Godalming, 380 at Haslemere and 461 across the villages, by 2028.

Top Government planning expert Lord Matthew Taylor has examined the different options for the airfield in an independent 90-page report, submitted by Dunsfold Park Ltd as part of the draft Core Strategy public consultation.

He found there was a compelling case to build a "garden village" with 1,000 new homes and the alternative would be a renewed focus on aviation.
