DYLAN’S Ice Cream hosted a fun-filled 10th anniversary ‘Sundae Party’ on Liphook’s Millennium Green, attracting hundreds of families, basking in glorious summer sunshine.
Ben Govier, the entrepreneur and creator behind Dylan’s success story, told The Herald: “I attended my first-ever event with my Bessie the cow ice cream van here during a Carnival Fun Day exactly 10 years ago, which kick-started my career and was a great success.
“This is why I wanted to return to Liphook to celebrate a decade in a business, which has seen many changes since then, and to raise money for the factory.
“We now have two vans, which have been booked to attend fairs, weddings and parties over the next two years, 13 members of staff, as well as the ice cream parlour in Haslemere, which was launched in 2014 and is going extremely well, offering 12 different flavours.
“I was hoping to open another one in the area, but so far have not yet found a suitable location.
“Our latest venture is called Dylan’s After Dark, where we have created a pina colada and a gin and tonic sorbet for adults and we are hoping to add more flavous soon.
“We tried it out at the Haslemere Gin Festival and were sold out in a couple of hours.
“Our best-sellers are still the honeycombe as well as the bumblebee ice cream, which is a mixture of chocolate and honey. I will be making some gooseberry next.
“The company is named after our much-missed black Labrador, hence the paw in our logo, who was part of the team 10 years ago and its still a family affair.”
The fun day offered something for every age group, including Roy Rogers and his popular train ‘Trigger,’ which never stopped running all day long, as well as Kidsrome, a mobile farm with goats, ducks, chickens, a pony and donkey, Benny the bunny and sheep that took part in a race.
Children also enjoyed the tea cup carousel, bouncy castle, face painting and creating their own sundaes, while food was provided by Cara Gorda Canteen and Eat the Street while live bands and a DJ supplied the musical entertainment.
Football fans were able to watch the England vs Panama game on a large screen and celebrate Gareth Southgate’s team winning 6-1 in style, while having a picnic on the green and members of the Liphook Neighbourhood Development Plan canvassed for volunteers.
Dylan’s mission has always been to make the very best ice cream possible, specialising in unique flavours and an ever-changing selection, made from hand picked fruit, delivered by trusted local suppliers as well as from Ben’s mum’s allotment.
The dairy herd is based at Manor Farm, at Langrish, near Petersfied.
