AT Pilgrims' Way Primary School in Farnham, there was an impressive array of hats on show to celebrate World Book Day.
Some pupils chose to wear hats to represent their favourite book characters, with Roald Dahl and AA Milne proving popular, as younger pupils were paired with a reading buddy from an older class to share a happy appreciation of reading together.
The day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, of reading.
After playing 'Guess the Book' at story time, when the class teacher read excerpts from books written by celebrated authors, pupils were given a World Book Day voucher to encourage them to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own.
A school spokesman said: "The children all have their favourite stories, and our World Book Day activities at The Pilgrims' Way were designed so that pupils were encouraged to discover a range of books and authors that they will come to love in the future."
