WAVERLEY Council has resisted a call by independent councillors to test the possibility of finding a new developer for the troubled East Street scheme.
The council, as anticipated, on Tuesday approved the recommendation of its ruling executive, to grant Crest Nicholson Sainsbury's another year to prove the viability of their scheme - the fourth extension to the conditional contract signed in 2003.
