OBJECTORS to the East Street scheme are urgently appealing for pledges to help fund their fight against the development.

The penultimate chapter in the history of the current East Street scheme will open next week, with a pre-inquiry hearing into two compulsory purchase orders essential to the development.

An independent Government inspector will meet the main protagonists in the compulsory purchase orders debate at 10am on Tuesday in The Burys, Godalming, ahead of an open public inquiry beginning on January 15.

However, although Waverley Borough Council, developers Crest Nicholson Sainsbury's and landowners F&C Reitt and Greene King are well equipped to fight such a battle, Farnham residents objecting to the scheme have less resources.
