MORE than 120 developers have expressed a formal interest in being involved in the regeneration of East Street.
Waverley council launched its development brief - a guide for developers - last month.
All expressions of interest have to be in by January 7. Then the council will draw up a short-list of "those with the necessary capabilities" to submit a draft scheme.
A Waverley spokesman said: "Only those developers who have the substance and experience to deliver the size and quality of project that will become the new East Street will be considered."
Captain Peter Burden, deputy leader of Waverley and chairman of the council group leading the project said: "Both Waverley and Cluttons (Waverley's agent) are delighted with such a positive response from developers and the fact that so many have come forward in a relatively short space of time."
