A PUBLIC inquiry to decide the future of Farnham town centre could be held in the town next month, after a government inspector sympathised with residents.

Waverley Borough Council intends to host the 10-day inquiry into two compulsory purchase orders essential to the current East Street scheme in its Godalming offices from January 15.

But the Farnham Interest Group, representing objectors to the scheme, argue it is unfair to ask residents to make the 20-mile round trip for a meeting to determine the future of their town.
