IT is green for go for Bordon's eco town now a planning application for housing on the first of the Ministry of Defence sites is expected to be submitted later this year to East Hampshire District Council.

This first major eco town homes development has been described as a "big landmark in the town's future" and could see 100 homes built on the Quebec Barracks site on the A325.

Quebec Barracks has been bought by the Homes and Community Group - a Government quango seeking a development partner.

Once a developer is announced in July, it will submit the planning application and, if approved, work on building the houses could start early next year.
