THERE was another day of celebration as pupils at King Edward’s Witley achieved top A-level grades.
On the back of the school significantly exceeding the world average for results in the International Baccalaureate, where pupils study six subjects, on Tuesday (August 10) A-level pupils, who have focused their study on three subjects, are being praised with all grades being awarded at B or above.
Assistant head academic, Richard Davies, said: “The impact of the Covid pandemic emphasises the importance of resilience, creativity and staying focused on working towards longer term goals.
“Over the past two years our A-level pupils have worked diligently to develop not only their academic curiosity but, in addition, through their extensive extra-curricular activities and rich tutorial programme, the skills, knowledge and understanding to succeed in the next stage of their learning journey - whatever that may be.”
Head girl Deniz Dagtas achieved an impressive A* in Maths which, together with an A in Further Maths and B in Economics has earned her a place to read Economics at the University of Edinburgh.
King Edward’s head, Joanna Wright, congratulated the A-level pupils on their successes. She said: “They are a wonderfully talented group who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their studies alongside the pursuit of co-curricular interests and leadership responsibilities."
