CHILDREN from Liphook Junior and Infant Schools took part in an exciting, fun-filled day of sporting events, held in glorious sunshine just before the summer break.

They had already competed in fair heats during the week leading up to the main event as well as the ‘bucket-fill challenge’.

Infant school children enjoyed sporting carousel events, while older puils were running in sprint and relay teams as well as competing for their school teams – Ruby, Amber or Emerald – cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

Children joined their friends and parents for a picnic lunch on the sports field, taking advantage of gazebos donated by the school community, providing much-needed shade. Afternoon events included traditional favourites such as egg and spoon races, frisbee Quidditch and lacrosse, with Emerald House winning the overall event, followed by Amber in second and Ruby.

PE students from Bordon’s Mill Chase Academy gave up their inset day to help run and score the event.

Executive headteacher Michele Frost told The Herald: “What a fantastic day – all the children excellend and showed great sportsmanship.

“The whole sports day was an amazing display of both personal and team effort and I am incredibly proud of all of them.

“It was wonderful to see the children support each other. Well done to all who took part and congratulations to Emerald, the winning team.”
