An Alton School pupil has been accepted into the Royal College of Music.

Year 11 pupil William Dear’s talent and dedication to music has led to a series of impressive achievements.

William has consistently demonstrated his musical abilities in a variety of contexts, including school performances and external competitions.

From Scott Joplin to Mozart, William is an adept performer.

His ability to play and perform has led to him achieving his Grade 8 piano exam – a notable accomplishment for someone of his age.

He has also taken opportunities to take his musical training to the next level.

Following his impressive auditions, he was offered places in the junior departments of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music.

William decided to accept the offer from the Royal College of Music for first study composition and second study organ, beginning in September.

He is thrilled about this opportunity and looks forward to pursuing his passion for music.

Alton School director of music Pande Shahov said: “We are extremely proud of all that William has achieved and wish him the very best in his future musical endeavours.

“His dedication, hard work, and talent are an inspiration to all of us at Alton School and beyond.”

William said: “I am really excited to have been offered this opportunity to study at the Royal College of Music’s junior department.

“My musical nurturing at Alton School has been invaluable in preparation for this, and I must extend my special thanks to our director of music, Dr Shahov, who has gone above and beyond in supporting me musically and preparing me for my application and audition.”
