Amesbury rated outstanding after inspection
AMESBURY School in Hindhead, has been rated “excellent” in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
The five-strong inspection team’s key findings were that the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent, the quality of their personal development is excellent and that pupils of all abilities make excellent progress during their time at school.
Inspectors ended the report by saying: “During discussions, pupils state that they enjoy their school life immensely and cite that Amesbury is an ‘amazing’ place for their education.”
Headmaster Nigel Taylor said: “Inspection teams have to follow a formulaic vocabulary, and so the fact the inspectors were bold and ended the report as they did is heartening.
“Well done to everyone connected with the school but most of all, to all of the staff and our wonderful boys and girls.”
Tarquin Henderson, chairman of governors, said: “To be graded excellent in every category, and each one of the 16 sub-categories was extraordinary.
“At one point during the feedback to governors, the lead inspector looked up from her prepared script and said to me ‘you must be getting very bored hearing the words excellent and outstanding.”
Deputy chairman Simon Miller added: “In our centenary year as a school in Hindhead and with a couple of years to go before our 150th anniversary, Amesbury is officially in excellent form – well in fact, in ‘amazing’ form.”
