AUTHOR Tom Easton visited Weydon School to talk to and help inspire its students.

As well as being an author of more than a dozen works of fiction for all ages, Tom doubles up as a production manager for Hachette Children’s Books in London where his job is to ensure the books get printed on time and costs don’t overrun.

The Surrey-based writer spoke about the different creative roles in publishing and inspired students to read and write their own stories.

He said: “Anyone can write, all you need is a story to tell, patience, perseverance and hard work.”

Tom also talked about how he got into the industry and told students that writing “isn’t only about fictional stories”.

Helen Sanders, careers co-ordinator at the school, thanked the HAV3N author for his “inspirational talk to Year 8” and said: “We hope that it has encouraged students to consider a literary-related career.”
