FARNHAM’s high-performing Weydon Academy has been held up as a ‘best practice’ case study in The Parliamentary Review.
The Review is an independent publication sharing best practice between policymakers and business leaders, featuring commentary from leading journalists and politicians.
Writing in this year’s Review, Weydon Multi-Academy Trust chief executive John Winter discusses how, when he joined Weydon School in 2006, it was “significantly undersubscribed and ranked in the bottom five per cent of the country for progress”.
But, crediting the school’s investment in staff, “relentless drive to improve”, expectations of students and the Weydon “journey”, Mr Winter adds his pride that Weydon has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted since 2009 and is now “one of the most oversubscribed schools in Surrey”.
He added: “I am delighted that the hard work of all the staff, students and governors over many years has been acknowledged by this Review.
“It recognises the staff currently employed by the school, as well as those who are now working across our Multi Academy Trust, helping to drive standards up in all of our schools.”
