CHARTERHOUSE is celebrating a bumper crop of results with 92 per cent of Cambridge Pre-U examinations taken awarded distinction or merit grades.
The Godalming school’s curriculum follows the normal path to GCSEs in year 11, followed by a choice of Cambridge Pre-U courses or the IB Diploma programme in the sixth form.
In Cambridge Pre-U, a total of 48 students achieved distinctions, or their A-level equivalent, in all subjects taken, with 16 gaining the equivalent of A or A* grades in all their subjects.
And three of the latter also achieved the top grade available in the examination they sat – either all D1 or A*.
Students achieved record results in the IB Diploma Programme, with 80 per cent gaining a six or a seven, the highest score, and almost 50 per cent getting 40 points or more, typically seen as an average score for Oxbridge entry.
Three pupils were awarded 44 points out of a maximum of 45.
James Kazi, academic deputy headmaster at Charterhouse, told The Herald this week: “I am hugely impressed by the commitment of the pupils and the endeavour that they had shown in preparing themselves for the examinations”.
