A FORMAL consultation will run until Wednesday, June 15, on proposals for The Ridgeway Community School in Farnham to convert to Multi Academy Trust status from Thursday, September 1.

The proposals were drawn up with a view to developments in education and in the interests of long-term planning, to place the school in the best position to benefit from collaborative alliances and shared working in the future.

The Ridgeway is a Special School for children between the ages of two and 19 with severe and profound multiple learning difficulties. Many children have additional complex needs and diagnoses such as autistic spectrum condition.

It has been granted accreditation as a Teaching School, a National Support School and a Leading Edge School statuses, and is committed to supporting and furthering the achievement, support and understanding of young people with special educational needs and disability.

Headteacher Darryl Morgan said: “This is a great opportunity for the school and its teaching school arm, Innovation Teaching School, to develop and extend its collaborative work with other partners, consolidating and building on existing outreach and shared best practice.

“The Ridgeway has a strong offer of training in understanding of, and strategies for supporting students with SEND, combined with a proven track record of leading research into raising achievement and outcomes for children in both the special and mainstream sectors.”
