FARNBOROUGH Hill has welcomed new head Alexandra Neil, a historian educated at Gordonstoun and Southampton University.

She said: “I am thrilled and honoured to be the head at Farnborough Hill. The school has been forward-thinking since its foundation over 125 years ago – clearly focused on the education of girls. Educating the whole person continues to be the enduring mission of the school.

“This means developing a thirst for knowledge, instilling cultural curiosity, encouraging physical challenge and ensuring that there is a sense of service and an outward-looking view of the world.”

Alexandra is passionate about all these aspects of school and is intent on continuing to deliver them, building upon the work of her predecessor Sarah Buckle.

“I strongly believe that school should be fun. It is when people are engaged and know they are valued, that they can really succeed,” added Alexandra.

“Given the excellent pastoral care and community spirit at Farnborough Hill, we will continue to prepare young women for a wide variety of achievements in the outside world, equipped with the skills and qualities required. I look forward to hearing of all these successes in the years to come.”
