HALE School’s Christmas fair has been hailed a festive success as more than £2,200 was raised for the primary school.
Some 200 festive folk supported the event on November 30.
A brass band got everyone into the festive spirit, and were also generous enough to allow the children to try out the various instruments between the band’s two musical sessions.
The school’s Glee Club kept crowds of families entertained by singing during the evening.
A chocolate tombola and alcohol tombola proved popular, as did the children’s games, which included a tin can alley, shooting range, Christmas slime, and pin the nose on Rudolph.
Another popular choice among visitors was the chance to get their nails painted, as well as selling second-hand school jumpers and fleeces on the night, which did "a roaring trade".
The raffle raised more than £600 for the school, with gifts donated by parents and local businesses. There were prizes such as meals out, beauty treatments, activity days and a Christmas hamper put together by teachers.
A small selection of stallholders also made their way to the Christmas fair and sold a range of gifts, from pottery and Christmas cards to fudge and knitted items.
And for younger fairgoers, the school’s parent teacher association ran a pocket money stall with gifts priced at £1 or less.
And families at the fair were joined by two special guests – Mr and Mrs Santa, who were in the Christmas grotto handing out presents to youngsters.
Teachers morphed into elves for one night only and helped Santa in the grotto, as well as on the refreshments stall.
Hale Parent Teacher Association extended a “big thank you” to sponsors Bridges Estate Agents.
