THINKING of a career in teaching? Then sign up to the ‘Get into Teaching Event’ at Weydon School in Farnham, on Saturday, November 26.
The ‘Train to Teach Roadshow’ will enable would-be teachers to find out how they can train for this rewarding career with a local school-led provider.
The event, organised by i2i Partnership Teaching School with Weydon at the forefront, is designed for anyone interested in teaching either primary or secondary, or in special education.
During the day participants will attend a presentation which will guide them through the routes into teaching, including invaluable information on applying for training.
There will also be the chance to speak to teaching experts and practising teachers to receive one-to-one advice on different training options and find out about teaching as a career.
In March 2012, Weydon School was granted ‘teaching school’ status in the second wave of the national initiative by the National College for School Leadership – this meant that the school was able to lead the training and professional development for staff.
The programme gives schools the freedom and autonomy to lead a group of schools, working with other partners including at least one university, to deliver high quality support for teachers and leaders at all stages in their career.
Since granted this status, Weydon has held various events and been involved in various government campaigns.
November’s event is the perfect chance to meet representatives from the schools and universities that lead teacher training in the region, and to find out about their courses and entry requirements.
There may also be the opportunity to gain support with individual applications and listen to advice from organisations which are offering bursaries.
