AFTER the notable academic successes of the previous year at Lord Wandsworth College, the pressure was on for the cohort of 2016. But the LWC pupils delivered some exceptional individual academic stories, as well as stretching onwards and upwards from their AS year with 57 per cent of results graded from A*-B at A-level.

Congratulations, in particular, go to Max Van der Lande, who achieved a clean sweep of A*s, followed closely by Charlie Morrell-Brown and Max Wood (A*, A*, A) and Toby Cecil, Danielle Baker, Oliver Rosling (A*, A, A). Charlie Morrell-Brown also achieved the accolade of the highest mark nationally for A-level English literature with 400/400, heading to Cambridge University with a spring in his step.

The year group further provided a raft of A* and A grades in their Extended Project qualifications as they took and applied their subject knowledge to university degree level.

Headmaster Adam Williams said”

“At a school utterly committed to character education, the pupil voice and an all-round education, our pupils can be rightly proud of some fine exam performances which will spur them onwards and upwards in their future careers to make a positive difference in the world.

“They have been supported by some inspirational teachers too, who constantly strive for new and innovative ways to deliver the ever-changing A-level curriculum. With a huge investment in our teaching facilities over the summer completed and a great deal more planned, the future looks bright indeed for this all-round school with an academic heart.”
