A FRENSHAM school has entered an exciting new era in its nursery department with the return of two former members of staff.
The turn of the year saw Edgeborough School welcome its new head of early years, Dr Jayne Symons.
Dr Symons first joined the school in 2012 where she had spells as a reception and Year 4 teacher, as well as head of Years 3 and 4, before leaving in 2016 to have her son Josh.
Dr Symons also gained more than ten years’ experience teaching in Asia and Africa before her first stint at Edgeborough.
She said: “It is with great excitement that I return to Edgeborough as the head of Early Years Foundation Stage, as it is a school I hold so dear to my heart.
“I look forward to working with parents, colleagues and children in our beautiful environment to allow each and every child in Edgeborough’s early years to embark upon on an educational journey full of wonder, exploration and success.”
Joining Dr Symons in the nursery will be another face familiar to the school. Jo Lockley has joined as a nursery assistant, a role she held when she first joined the school in 2002.
Having left in 2005 for the birth of her daughter, she returns more than a decade later to pick up where she left off.
Mrs Lockley said: “After 13 years I am excited to be back working in the Edgeborough Nursery.
“I’ve been working with children for more than 25 years and in my time away I’ve worked in different settings so I’m keen to bring all my experience to the early years at Edgeborough.”
Headmaster Dan Thornburn added: “We are so excited to welcome Jayne and Jo back to Edgeborough. Both left a lasting positive impact on the children and colleagues during their previous stints.
“There is a real buzz about the direction in which our early years programme is headed – with waiting lists already in place for both rooms, it is set to be an exciting few years.”
