STAFF and students at Farnborough College of Technology have celebrated another success after this year’s A-level exam results were announced.
Following the college’s ranking of fourth nationally for 16 to 18 student success, this year’s students achieved a 75 per cent A* to C pass rate, with a 100 per cent pass rate overall.
Amy Amero, gained one A* in English language and literature, and two As in law and history. She is now preparing to join the University of Warwick to study law. She said: “I absolutely loved my time studying A-levels here at Farnborough College, and I’m very, very happy with my grades.”
James Lambell, achieved three As in maths, chemistry and physics, and is heading to the University of Nottingham to study physics.
He said: “I’m really happy with my results. Our teachers valued us, treated us as individuals, and tailored their support to each person, which really helped throughout my A-levels.”
Katie Bacon, is taking a gap year before studying film at the University of Nottingham. She gained an A* in media, A in psychology, and B in biology. “I couldn’t come in to college for eight weeks due to serious illness, but my tutors supported me throughout everything and I’ve finished with really good grades.”
The college’s adult access to higher education students have also received great news on their journey to university, especially for Emma Silvester and Rosemary Harker, who are now looking forward to starting at the University of Cambridge.
Principal Virginia Barrett said: “We are delighted with the achievements of our A-level students. They are especially pleasing because our A-level provision is not exclusive.
“These results are of course well deserved, and reflect the hard work that our students have put in to their studies. It’s great to see so many students fulfilling their potential, and we are very proud of their achievements.
“The college continues to set high standards, and these achievements would not have been possible without our highly dedicated staff who motivate and inspire our inclusive student body with exceptional education and support.
“We want to wish all of our students the very best of luck in their future lives and look forward to hearing of their successes.”
It is not too late to apply to study an A-level course at Farnborough College of Technology for this September.
