The green light has been given for a £14.4 million new primary school in Fleet that will provide education for up to 420 students by September 2027.
Hampshire County Council has approved funding for the construction of Hartland Village Primary School, which will feature 14 classrooms, a main hall, studio, learning resource centre, kitchen, and supporting staff accommodation.
Outdoor facilities will include hardstanding areas for informal play, dedicated play courts, and parking.
Parking provision will include 34 standard spaces, two accessible bays and four electric vehicle charging points.
To minimise carbon emissions, the school will incorporate an air-source heat pump heating system and will have solar panels installed on the roof,
Approving the project on January 21, Cllr Roz Chadd, cabinet member for children’s service, said: “I am now excited to approve the spend for Hartland Village Primary School, which marks another important milestone in our ongoing rollout of new school places to meet rising demand in areas of significant growth.”
The school will be run by The Circle Trust and is planned to open in September 2027, initially welcoming 30 pupils into its first Reception class, with numbers increasing year by year.
Hartland Village Primary School will form a central part of the Hartland Village development, a major housing project on the outskirts of Fleet set to deliver approximately 1,500 new homes once completed.
